Thoroughly read the pinned Event Details below:
All participants on adventure shoots organized by Hidden West and Mangai Rollin must understand and agree to the following to reserve their spot and join the adventure.
1. Best Self: These are intimate, small group adventures. It is critical that each individual bring their best self to the group and expect to participate equally. We take this VERY SERIOUSLY and work hard to ensure that each participant will be fun to have along for the adventure.
1a. No discussion of politics or religion: This is meant to be a vacation, an escape from reality. Leave your opinions at home. No one wants to hear them.
2. Sound Mind and Body: Each individual must be physically healthy and in a positive state of mind. If you question your health or state of mind, then please consider joining us at a later date.
3. Mechanically Sound Vehicle: Each vehicle must be up to date on maintenance and be cleared for a long road trip from its mechanic. We will be driving some rough roads and do not want a vehicle with a known previous condition to be the weak link.
4. Appropriate Gear: tires, air compressor, off-road extraction gear and communications gear. If you do not already possess all of this gear, there will be group discussion posts with links provided on each topic. ...or you can visit our gear links page for a list of the gear we use: https://www.mangai-rollin.com/gear
We have discounts available with some gear mfrs and will share them with the group when possible.
4a. Current land manager requirements: OHV sticker, Forest Pass, NW Visitor Pass, National Parks pass, etc.
4b. Tires: Five matching AT tires with 50% or greater tread is considered the minimum. We often get flat tires and you need to be prepared to change your own tire to continue on.
4c. Tire tools: Tire repair kit and deflation / inflation tools so that you can take care of your vehicle’s needs without relying on others. Onboard air is preferred but a high quality portable compressor is fine.
4d. Recovery points F&R, shovel, traction boards and a kinetic strap are the minimum extraction equipment. Winches are preferred.
4e. Communications: GMRS radios. Hard mounted units preferred. Hi-powered handheld radios accepted.
5. Dinero: $1200 / vehicle with two passengers.
5a. These fees include: route planning, camping fees, cost of ingredients for a group meal and whiskey tasting.
5b. These fees exclude: fuel, food for personal breakfasts / lunch / dinners, ingredients for a group meal prepared by your vehicle (each rig is responsible for cooking for the group once).
5c. Submit 50% non-refundable deposit as soon as possible to reserve your spot; submit 50% balance one month ahead of trip date.
6. Cooking: We believe strongly in the benefits of working together. Each night, the occupants of a different vehicle cook dinner for the group and everyone eats together. Usually, others in the group volunteer to assist with prep and/or cleaning if needed. Participants are encouraged to bring their A-game, plan out their best camping meal and add it to the event spreadsheet. Each meal's ingredients will be reviewed and we will provide guidance on where ingredients are best procured S of the border.
7. Children and Dogs: These are adult-oriented adventures. Children below the age of 18 are not allowed. Mature young adults 18-21 are allowed provided that they can handle the pace and will be considered an asset to the group's experience. Friendly dogs are welcomed and considered a benefit, but be aware that we will be in the wild. We see rattlesnakes on every trip. It is the responsibility of the dog's owner to keep them safe.
8. Snakebites: Rattlesnakes and scorpions are all over the Western US and the Baja peninsula. Walk Loud and NEVER reach under rocks without kicking them over and inspecting them first. "Snakebite kits" do NOT work. Rattlesnake antivenom is expensive and has a short enough shelf life that many hospitals do not stock it. Typical envenomation treatment for humans can cost $200k+ for humans and $12k+ for dogs.
9. Emergency Protocols: We work hard to plan ahead and act responsibly in the moment but accidents do happen. We carry emergency satellite communication devices to be able to call for help when out of cellular signals.
9a. Disabled vehicles: In the event of a mechanical problem, we will work as a group to assist in recovering a disabled vehicle and getting it to pavement where it can be loaded onto a flatbed trailer or tow truck.
9b. Disabled humans: In the event of a car accident, fall, snakebite, etc, an ambulance would be summoned and the disabled person would be transferred to the nearest hospital.
10. Insurance: At a minimum, every serious adventurer should carry vehicle insurance, AAA premium (for long tows), Health Insurance and Emergency Evacuation Insurance (we suggest Global Rescue).
10a. Know your coverage. You should know what your "Out of Network" coverage is in the event you have an emergency and have to be treated at the nearest hospital.
11. Adventure Shoot: On occasion, mangai.rollin staff and contractors use these adventures as a working content shoot in order to shoot enthusiasts authentically using relevant products in the field. We also document the trip as a whole and put together edited photo albums / videos that will be shared in social media. We work very hard to capture content organically and not interrupt the flow of the experience. If you have any questions or concerns, please address them ahead of submitting your deposit. You will be asked to wet-sign a model release form.
12. Liability Waiver: You will be expected to act as an adult and be responsible for your own actions. You will wet-sign a waiver indemnifying mangai.rollin and it’s employees and subcontractors from all liability should you get yourself into trouble, harm yourself or others.
